Albums
The discography of American rock band Toto includes 13 studio albums, 4 live albums, and several compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists as well as on soundtracks for films. The group has won multiple Grammy Awards.
Before the formation of Toto the group, members worked as sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to formation of Toto in the year 1976.
The band's third album, Turn Back, marked a change from the more progressive sound of their earlier albums, and was criticised for its absence of hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Fredericksen quit the group, and they held auditions to find a replacement frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their album Fahrenheit in 1986.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several demos and tapes from the past to release a special record called Toto XX. The album was well-loved by fans and Toto embarked on the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
